everywhere you found telephone booths!
a call was a nickle.where did all those telephone booths go?i dunno.where did my whole world go?i dunno.. tv sets were huge boxes with tubes and small screens.

If "the Truth" is the truth, why are witnesses so scared of research?
by stuckinarut2 init is an often asked question i know, but it perplexes me.. if witnesses are so convinced that they have "the truth", why is the act of researching information from external sources so taboo?
didn't the bible itself tell people to "use their powers of reason" and also praised ones like the boreans for researching things they were told??.
seriously, if there is no doubt about the organization being "god's channel" on earth, and it alone having the "truth", surely researching would only enhance such 'facts'?.

Never a JW but when the "Elder" gave me the book on Families to see how I would react. I then I started to ask questions about the JW beliefs he refused to discuss JW beliefs with me. Instead after 5 years just sent me an email that said good bye have a nice life. I just thought that was just so strange that he would not discuss his beliefs.

i understand that most here want retribution from the courts against watchtower for child abuse allegations.
but let us take away the instances where someone was accused of child abuse and then later put back into a position of authority, such as an elder or an ms. let us just take the cases where a regular publisher or even an appointed person, with no previous accusation of child abuse has come up against that person.

Since finding this sight that has been my question all along. These Elders do not see the harm in questioning these children?
But then again I watch their children's videos and some of the children's books that have been put up here and I sit here going what emotional abuse!! The entire organization is exempt from any knowledge of child development. They start from the earliest age abusing these kids emotionally.
The first introduction into the world of JW was the booklet on Families. That set off enough red flags for me but in no way prepared me for the shock I would get when I found this website. WOW!!! And the "Elder" thought I would be interested in becoming a JW.

Never a JW here, I belong to one of those you know organizations that are referred to as Babylon groups and we work with the youth groups. We really do not care what the state and federal laws are, it is our policy if we as much suspect child abuse we do not question or investigate we simply call the proper authorities. They are trained to investigate and either deal with the matter or clear the matter.
One of the incidents recently was a child that her father was from the ranks. If I had to relate thus to a JW situation probably like a CO. This man went to his superiors immediately complaining and reporting us. Their response was real clear you better be clearing this up with the proper authorities and make sure YOU and your family are on tract because we DO NOT tolerate this behavior. You need to do what they say to clear this from the records .
PS we are all Certified Adult Volunteers both male and female if a female youth approaches a male CAV he is instructed to immediately find a female CAV turn the youth over to the adult female. NO male adult CAV is to ever be present when a female youth is talking about abuse!!! Those are the rules.

Poor people are sub-human?

escpecially the elders, and they treat their subordinates like filthy gum on the bottom of their shoe?
just wondering because i too am poorer than poor and have spent a fourth of my life homeless already and i am 22.. another thing to consider is why domost of the population on this planet seem to hate the poor, even though we outnumber the middle class and the rich greatly?

If the gov't is willing to subsidize all these women who want to be baby factories it is about time they look into solving some of the homeless issues. Some of the chronic homeless issues you refer to is the result of our Veterans who have returned with untreated mental and physical handicaps which we have not addressed.
There is absolutely no reason why this society should not provide better for our Veterans.
You also stated when you are hit with hard times like you told dog suck it up make changes and move on and better yourself. For some people that is great advise and very easy to do but other people that is a struggle. Also it will depend on how many hard times they are hit with at one time as to whether they can ride out the storm without some serious professional help. Some of us are built to endure just about anything life can deal out where others are going to crumble under the pressure of one life event.
Trust me the way you raised your kids did not have anything to do with whether or not they would be tough in life events.

You have no clue what has created some of the homeless situations in the USA. Nor do you have a clue how entitled some of these people feel they are to government benefits. I just finished reading this entire thread missing it as it was going on but these two points stand out. On another point how exactly did you help your family members?
Point 1: Some of our Veterans and their families LOST their homes during the financial crisis because the homes were devalued and took them through foreclosures. I have no idea what area you are located but there were areas near me that values plummeted 50 to 70%. Banks were not willing to work with these people in the beginning. These people did not want to be homeless they are hardworking tax paying citizens who a member of the family fought for you and me to live in freedom. No those Satan's that work in that financial industry that robbed all of us our money that should have their butt behind bars are still collecting their large salaries and annual bonuses. And now they are paying huge fines and penalties for laws they broke during and after the crisis. Can you relate any of this to another company we know calling themselves a religion?
Point 2: Personal knowledge my girlfrield's daughter (who we are not happy with) is one of these entitled people. She sits at home. Husband on disability. Now if she has a child the state will pay her XXX and give her XXX in food stamps plus she will get medicare for the child and herself. Now if she has another repeat and recycle. Well at last count we have popped out number 8 at the hands of us tax payers -- just ludicrous!!!!!
Why don't you describe how you helped your family members? Buy them into alcohol program or drug program? Read them some scriptures.
Do you understand what truly helping a person in need is? At what lengths would you go to help a family member or friend and I am not speaking of monetary? Do you understand true unconditional love.

Cute story my next painting project is my pool deck and lanai. My son so graciously said I will paint and seal it for you. So I sent him a picture of what I wanted. I got an instant reply. I said I would paint not do art work. I should have known you would not have settled for a simple paint job.

Rebel, I love your paintings. For me I love all the arts music, painting, dance, gymnastics, even old architecture you get the idea. Currently I am into mixed medium. I have just learned how to paint palm bark. My first piece was for a large floral arrangement in my dining room. I attempted the other day to post a pic but computers does not like me and went into this forever mode.
You said "thick skinned" never a JW but as an abused victim at least twice I have developed a very thick skin. For forty plus years my days were spent analyzing numbers so at the end of the day it was a great to escape both situation into something far more enjoyable like some form of the arts.
I also remodel the homes we buy to live in. What work I do not do myself, I drive the contractors nuts because all work is custom design. Very rare is anything plain and simple. My last house I custom painted the place myself to the point everyone thought it was wallpaper. The dining room had very fine alternating stripes with glitter paint the color difference was barely noticeable but it was the glitter that set it off. The fourth wall with a fire place was painted the same colors but in diamond pattern.
I just think we are all born with some amazing talents and I just enjoy watching everyone get the most out of these talents.

The sugar cube.
by The Rebel infirstly thanks to cofty & smiddy for the kind words on my " final post" .
this post is simply to say over two months have passed since my last post and since then i have with my wife and son seen elton john live, visited stockholm, berlin, and most importantly appreciated " the natural beauty of my neighbourhood" with out even thinking about the watchtower.
i have also attended 3 watford football matches with my son and made better relationships with my parents, discovered harvey's draught beer and made new friends in my local pub.
